Mr. & Mrs. Rider

This week we will celebrate our 2nd anniversary! I browsed through our wedding pictures looking for a few to share in celebration and couldn't narrow it down. I love them all. So I am sharing quite a few through out the week. An anniversary celebration deserves more than a day anyway!

My Other Man

Many years ago I got this fantastic Philosophy Gingerbread Man set as a gift from the fabulous Anne.
I have used it for ages to store my nail polish. But since I get a lovely discount on nail polish at work, my collection has been bursting out of the box. So before retiring it, I made sure to document the adorable box.

Do Life: Hello Kitty Style

I am always looking for inexpensive tank tops to wear while working it out. So obviously I could not pass up this $3 gem at Target, even though it had a giant Hello Kitty plastered on the front.

I am not a small child or asian, so wearing Hello Kitty is mildly embarrassing.
Apparently I am not the only who thinks so. Bailey seemed ashamed to be seen running with me.

This shirt made an appearance at spin class this Sunday and Kurt didn't seem to be quite as embarrassed. Probably Kurt was just too busy trying not to pass out to notice my shirt.
That class was intense!

Yummy Things

Our kitchen has been smelling good recently.
There is something so Fall about opening the front door and
being greeted by the delicious aromas of some crockpot cooking.

Crockpot Buffalo Chicken (recipe courtesy of my good friend Kristen).
It may look gross, but tastes so good. My mom & sister are fans now too.
Our blender survived it's fall into water and we are back in smoothie business.
Greek yogurt, honey, orange juice, and frozen fruit.
A fun fall visitor stopped by for dinner.
Bailey and her treat from the Three Dog Bakery.

Indianapolis Weekend

Fall colors on 65. A fantastic wedding with lots of great friends and dancing. The bridal shower of a very dear bride-to-be. Beautiful Bloomington farmer's market flowers from the shower. A coffee date to celebrate fall and our anniversary. My very first pumpkin spice lattee, the first of many I am sure.

Coconut Oil Obsession

I recently started using coconut oil to cook with and it has turned into a bit of an obsession. It adds such a delicious subtle flavor, especially to my favorite snack, Whirley Pop popcorn. It's honestly better than movie theater popcorn. And way better for you.

Coconut oil can be used for other purposes outside of cooking and I recently started using it in place of body lotion. I mean it smells so insanely good. I'm a walking pina colada.

The really cool thing about coconut oil is the consistency depends on the temperature of its surroundings. If stored in an area above 76 degrees it is a clear liquid, if below that temperature it turns to a white solid.

Hello Cinci!

I always forget how adorable Cincinnati is until I visit.
So glad Anne wanted to celebrate there for her bachelorette party.
We ate amazing food, checked out Oktoberfest, rode a trolley,
drank some champagne, saw a drag show, and ate some more amazing food.

See ya later Cinci!

Lately

September has been a fun and busy month. This summer I have constantly found myself saying "I can't believe it's already...". It leaves me feeling like a broken record, but it is true nonetheless. Time must pass more quickly the older you get.

Even last September didn't seem to move as quickly as this last one. In fact, I am pretty sure last September crept by. Kurt was just getting into the groove at school and I could hardly wait to finish my out of state cosmetology hours. Second year is demanding, but in a more rewarding way for Kurt. More lab work, a little less classroom. The classes challenge him more, but the material is more interesting. I feel settled at work, I enjoy my co-workers immensely, and my clients are nothing if not entertaining. And good conversation pieces. Like the lady who disappeared twice while I was coloring her hair. Once to go get two bags of chips from down the street and the second time to go get a Penn Station sandwich (keep in mind she had color on her hair). But it's okay because she really loves chips. In fact, if she had to pick between George Clooney or chips, she would pick chips every time. Yes, she really said that. Completely unprompted.
